July Salem School News

Enrollment for 2024-2025

We still have openings in Preschool and K-8. Please encourage families interested in our school to contact either Mr. Klatt (rklatt@salemlutheran.org) for K-8 students or Mrs. Grobe (jgrobe@salemlutheran.org)  for preschool students. Families interested in our school are also encouraged to sign up for a tour on our website.

Summer Projects

We will be working hard this summer on these items:

  • Amplify Books 
  • Security glass for Front School and Church doors
  • Gym floor retaping and waxing – please note the gym will not be available during this time. 
  • Washing School Walls
  • Painting of the 7th and 8th Grade room
  • Cleaning Classroom carpets and waxing the floors
  • Rewaxing Hallway floors

Lunchroom Help Wanted

We need lunchroom help for the 2024-2025 school year and here are the positions available:

Food Service Aide

This position performs routine service-level duties to assist with food preparation, serving, and clean up of the lunchroom and school kitchen. The Food Service Aide is the first level on the service-oriented career ladder.

Food Service Assistant Manager

This position supervises and coordinates the activities of workers engaged in receiving, preparing, cooking, and serving food in the school lunchroom.

Before-Care Supervisor Needed

Salem needs a supervisor for our before-care at Salem for the 24-25 school year. Care would be provided from 7:00 am – 8:30 am and the pay would be $30 a day. For more information, feel free to look at the position description below. If you or someone you know are interested in filling the position, please reach out to the School Office or Mr. Klatt for an application.

Before/After Care Job Description

Summer Tuesdays and Lumberjack Parade

Salem will have a booth with crafts for kids at Stillwater’s Summer Tuesday event in downtown Stillwater on July 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th and August 6th and 13th. We will have volunteers run the tent activities and share information on our church and school. If you are downtown for the event, please stop and say hi!

 Salem will also host a float at the Lumberjack Day’s parade on July 21st and hand out water along the parade route. If you want to help that day, please contact Pastor Wolfe (rwolfe@salemlutheran.org).

School Information for 2024-2025 

The school office will send out information for the 2024-2025 school year in early July. Here are a few items for you early birds and other information soon to come!

Busing for 2024-2025 School Year

If you live in the Stillwater School District – 834 and will be using bus services, use the district’s new website to register. Families can access the registration by following the link below. Please note they would like registrations by July 14th!

August 12 & 13 – Meet the Teacher

Please keep one of these dates open for our Meet the Teacher event. We will offer two dates for families to come to school, bring their supplies, and meet with teachers in their classrooms. August 12 will be 8 am – 12 pm and August 13 will be 3 pm – 7 pm. We hope one of these dates works well for you. Contact your child’s teacher if you need a different date scheduled with them. Referral Program

The school board approved a program that gave an incentive to recruit new families for our school. If a family with children enrolled refers a new family to Salem, they will receive a $200 tuition credit at Christmas per family they referred. There is no limit to the number of families you can refer. If you have questions about the program, speak to a School Board member or Mr. Klatt.

Aluminum Can Dropoff

Aluminum cans benefit our athletic program and can be bagged up and placed in the wooden bin next to the garage facing Panama Ave. We will continue to support The Ronald McDonald House by participating in the Pop Tab program. The cash received goes directly to support Ronald McDonald House. They can be dropped off in the bin at the entrance to the school. 

Prayer

One way we forget we can help our school and church is to pray for them throughout the year. Your prayers are always a blessing and it is great to know that you are asking God for his blessings in our school and church year.
